Fraudulent Dodgy Roadworthy | How to Avoid Fraud Safety Inspections in QUEENSLAND with these tips from experts in the industry.
In recent months there has been a huge increase in fraudulent Roadworthy Inspections in Queensland. As many know we have always had dodgy or over the phone roadworthies which to be fair I believe have reduced since satelite brake testing, a big tick to TMR for the introduction of this system. However in more recent times it has been issuing fake certificates, which means they are not an improved inspector or have an approved inspection station and are normally done over the phone with no actually check being done. Often these operators are found on social media platforms like Facebook.
So how do we avoid being scammed by these unlicensed and unaccredited operators ? We are going to split them into 2 customer groups 1/ The customer receiving a RWC and the 2/ A person buying a car and receiving a RWC.
1/ The customer receiving a RWC
When you are looking for a Roadworthy Company research !! Check out their google reviews or a review website like ours - check HERE, check out their website and make sure there facebook page has plenty of likes. This shows they have been in business for many years giving you the confidence of a reputable roadworthy inspection.
Make sure they actually look at the vehicle and do the inspection.
When you receive the certificate, request it is emailed direction from the TMR ICO System. You will know this as the email it will sent from is noreply@ico-mail.tmr.qld.gov.au
Check all details on the Certificate to ensure they are correct and that the certificate looks like it has not been altered.
2/ A person buying a car and receiving a RWC.
It is a good idea to read 1/ and ensure this is the case.
If the seller emails you the certificate ensure it has originally come from the official Inspection Certificates Online email address as above
Look at who has done the inspection and ring the company or TMR to ensure it is Valid.
We would always recommend to get a Pre Purchase Inspection, a Roadworthy Inspection is to ensure it meets a code of practice that it is safe to drive on the road, it is not a condition report, find out more on Pre Inspections HERE
If you believe you have had a fraudulent Inspection call TMR on 13 23 80
If you have had a dodgy Roadworthy we would first recommend ensuring the issue's are actually Roadworthy related, talking to the inspector who done the roadworthy and if all else fails contacting TMR HERE
